G'day Covert! What you learned is "the truth about "The Governing Body". Unlike the early church Apostles whose writings encouraged myself and family to study the Bible and get baptism, these Vipers (the few real apostates and the compromisers who kiss their proverbial rings) have introduced false teachings into Jehovah's organisation. These are not minor matters but serious teachings leading to the loss of thousands of innocent lives.
This organisation once belonged to God. Full of imperfect men, it was moving in a direction of pure doctrine. Then it became infiltrated with those who placed their personal pride above humility. These false apostles are legally entrenched in the corporate arm of Jehovah's organisation. It is their error you learned about, leading you to conclude this is not God's organisation.
God really understands your situation and heart. You are like a soldier who discovered his superiors of rank are corrupt. You left the ranks of soldier to return to civilian life as many have who enlisted themselves to fight to spread the good news of Christ's kingdom. Not until the entire inhabited earth receives the good news will the end come, says the scriptures. That is why some are called to preach. You've done your share and left for legitimate reasons. Possibly one of these days when God makes it right in the organisation, you will discover a true spiritual paradise and return. Serving God out of fear of death is wrong. Someone will continue to proclaim the good news each generation. Some are called for this whilst others are not. The magnitude of spreading the good news to over six billion people means, I realised recently, that the end is thousands of years into our future. Many generations are ahead of those whom I believe God in his omnipotence already knows and loves.
Why live the life of a Christian? Why get to know God through study if there is no incentive or fear of death? The answer is simple to the meek hearted. The reason is because we love God for having given us life, and we have come to understand that the brief timetable of human suffering is nothing in comparison to an eternity of meaningful life ahead. We also know God doesn't teach a gospel of fear, but a gospel of love. Life is not defined by any corrupt men who have haunted religious history from the bloodthirsty church leaders of the middle ages -->> to the fornicators, hypocrites, and criminals. Of the religious charlatons, the Jimmy Swaggarts, Jimmy Bakkers, and certain members of the GBs of this world, the Bible warns these false teachers are all facing divine executions for their moral crimes against humanity in the final judgment.
Don't let the religious charlatons discourage you from getting to know Jehovah and his son through study of the Bible. They'll pull you down to their level if you let them. Misery loves company! Don't give them the satisfaction. Rise above them and pursue a balanced life based on what you learn from the Bible itself. Don't let interpretations or rhetoric spoil a book that has provided comfort and hope to billions for thousands of years. Many died to keep the Bible from becoming mistranslated or censored. It's time to read the Bible with fresh eyes, young brother, without the blinders of the proud and arrogant old men now enjoying their retirements at all of our expense. Let them enjoy. For like Esau who sold his birthright to fill his hungry belly with bowl of hot lentil stew, they sold their eternal birthrights for nice retirement digs at the Watchtower Farms. Let them enjoy their bowls and digest its contents, whilest you choose riches of the heart and soul that will never fade.
