I want to tell you it is NOT off-topic. ANYTHING that gets you or others thinking like this is definitely ON-topic.
I think maybe some of us tend to forget that we went through this whole questioning process ourselves, and maybe tend to now take that for granted and expect others to start dealing with "more important" issues. But this IS a "more important issue" for you, and it DOES bring up some fascinating questions about Watchtower double standards.
