"...Did anyone else hear about the Egyptian Mummies being found to be cocaine users in confirmed independent laboratory analysis? The coca plant doesn't grow in Egypt...."
Geeze, maybe they even had Columbian drug cartels even back then!!!(just kidding).
There's alot about the ancient Egyptians that we can't explain today. Who knows? Maybe the coco plant DID grow in Egypt, thousands of years ago when it was a lush, fertile land, instead of the barren desert we see today. Maybe it just died out, like so many other plants over the centuries. Some explorers who were diving in Lake Superior, came across a bonanza when they discovered hundreds of logs that had sank on a ship over 120 years ago. The lumber was from trees that don't even exist over here any more and were probably as old as when Columbus first set foot on american soil.
So it is entirely possible, that the coco plant may have existed at one time in Egypt.
"...I have also seen reports that the Sphinx may actually be as much as 15000-20000 years old!..."
Yes, I've seen and heard this too. Although it may sound far-fetched to alot, there seems to be some credible evidence backing up this theory:
The erosion on the Sphinx was caused by water, not wind erosion as was long thought. And I don't mean just a regular spring shower either. The evidence shows that it was torrential rains over a period of time that caused this erosion (which differs significantly from wind and sand erosion as can be seen on other monuments in Egypt), and caused the decay.
When you look at the size of the body of the Sphinx and compare it to the size of the head, you can see that the two don't match at all. To say how precise and accurate the ancient Egyptians were when it came to building idols, I find it hard to believe that this was all carved out at the same time, and I think the ruling Pharoah would have killed whoever had done such a lousy job on this project.
The theory goes, that the original Sphinx was actually done before a "flood" by a group of people. The head would most likely have been of a lion to match the body we see today. When the rains came, the body was buried under a ton of mud, and only the head remained above ground. The Egyptians re-fashioned the head after the Pharoah and it wasn't until the body was "unearthed" that we could see that the two didn't match.
According to geologists, there hasn't been any significant rain in Egypt for 12,000 years. Therefore, the argument goes, for the Sphinx to be eroded the way it is today, it means that it would have had to have been around 12,000 years ago when these floods took place.
"...I wonder if mankind's true past is much more fascinating than usually portrayed?..."
I think it is. Tales of pre-ancients, the Legend of Atlantis, how the Great Pyramid was built, stories of ancient flights and of "visitors" coming down from the heavens, have always fasinated me. Some of the most intriging stories are in the bible itself. Knowing what we know today, how do you explain what Peter saw near Caesarea as described in Acts 10:11?
"...[he] beheld heaven opened and some sort of vessel descending like a great linen sheet being let down by its four extremities upon the earth..."
vs. 16: "....This occured a third time, and immediately the vessel was taken up into heaven."
