Adding to the Great Flood speculation:
The central and south american cultures also preserve details of a great flood and fire that destroyed mankind. For instance, in
the Toltec stories a few people survived the flood, escaping in a closed chest. Many generations later the multitude erected a
very tall building for shelter against the next destruction. Languages were then confused the peoples left to different parts of the
Earth. The tall building may have been a Ziggurat, similar to the Egyptian Step pyramids.

There is an etymological similarity between Plato's tale of Atlantis and Genesis. The main city of Atlantis was ruled by Atlas, one
of Poseidon's ten twin sons. Their mother was Clito, who was the daughter of a native sprung from the earth, Evenor and his
wife Lucippe (Eve and Lucifer!).

This does not answer the question who it were the explorers that sailed between the continents, nor who originated the details of
the flood. But, according to J.M. Allen in his book Atlantis the Altiplano basin was the original continent that contains the
island city of Atlantis. This region suffers from volcanic activity (hence the fire from heaven) and also is liable to flooding. It is
known that the lakes of Titicaca and Poopo are remnants of an inland area of sea that covered the Altiplano (e.g. Lake Minchin
38-23,000 BC and Lake Tauca 9000-8000 BC) .

This seems to suggest that the Biblical story of a great deluge could be the flooding of an advanced South American civilization.(Part of the article on the site.)

Did anyone else hear about the Egyptian Mummies being found to be cocaine users in confirmed independent laboratory analysis? The coca plant doesn't grow in Egypt. I have also seen reports that the Sphinx may actually be as much as 15000-20000 years old! I wonder if mankind's true past is much more fascinating than usually portrayed?
