This is a Sincere thank you to Gary, or Kriss or whatever you call yourself today.
When I started out about 7 months ago researching the 607 BCE date of Jerusalem's destruction, I was honestly looking to strengthen my convictions and be able to better explain the difference between the Society's date and secular historians' views, so that I could be a better teacher of truth.
I was devastated by what I found - so much so that I eventually decided to step down as an elder. I felt heartbroken and distraught. I was very grateful to some friends on the 'net who listened to my fears and concerns and helped my achieve a semblance of emotional and spiritual equilibrium.
But Gary, you've made a world of difference. Your comments about the relative dating of the thousands of cuneiform tablets helped me understand that much of chronology is really pretty relative (and that I mean quite unsarcastically!)
But it was your "revised chronology" and your revelation of your status as the Messiah that helped me take a lighter view and smile at the whole story.
Don't get me wrong, the issue still bothers me, but now I am learning to focus on the more important issues, such a Christ's role in my life, keeping my family strong in love and what Jehovah God really wants for us.
(I went to see "Prince of Egypt" with my sons the other night, and one song with "Jethro" singing spoke about looking at your life through heaven's eyes. I thought I should do a bit more of that).
So thanks, Gary (or ???) - your comments have made a difference to one Sincerely seeking the truth.
