Thanks for this note.
I can believe in evolution. After all, didn't we all start from a single cell in the "warm soup" of our mother's wombs, then progressively evole into a tad-pole like creature and then into an embryo then fetus and finally the infant? That's evolution. God uses evolution, right?
Probably the strongest argument I've seen for evolution comes from a visit to the zoo. Frankly to the primate cage where you see these monkeys and apes, that are so much like us! How can you not think that we are not related?
They shake hands. They make faces. They learn how to use tools. You know, I can see why Jan Haugland and A.F. think we came from apes and chimpanzees. I can't blame them. I was at the zoo the other day and just had to shake my head, because I was amazed just how much those arangatangs look just like Jan and A.F.! The resemblance is amazing! And, of course, that chimpanzee I was shaking hands with looked just like me! (smile)
But you know. We ar intelligent enough to know better. Sure these LOOK like us in many ways. But they are distinctly animals. The gap between humans and their intellectual capacity and that of animals, even these that physical resemble us, is distinct.
So why not imagine there is some link and they are our ancestors? That's hard to resist.
But that's one thing that makes me doubt evolution, or more specifically evolutionists. That's because every link in the chain is still here! Those tiny protozoa life forms are perfectly content to remain protozoa and live in the soupy mire of the swamps with no thought of evoling into tadpoles.
I can see even who a scientist will look at a tadpole, springing from an egg and then gradually turning into frog and extrapolating that into the whole life chain.
But let's face it. These frogs are an end-species and a closed species, just like the apes are. We
can't cohabit with an ape and create a pseudo-man.
We are all distinct species at the moment, with some of the "primal" species still here.
And scientists who have the opportunity to create any laboratory condition they want have failed to inspire or induce any kind of life form from inorganic matter. Why even given living matter, when it dies it does not evolve but simply deteriorates. So the "natural" order of things is to break down complex organic forms, not the other way around which would be fundamental to this evolutionary process to create the lifeforms we have today.
So evolution is NOT SCIENTIFIC. It is unfounded based upon what is observed TODAY scientifically.
That is, why has
evolution stopped?
On the other hand, the Bible says God created things to procreate "after their kind" and that's exactly what we have today. No cross-species evolution going on. That's SCIENTIFIC.
I dismiss evolution, not because of the need to believe in a creator, but becaues evolution is simply too stupid an idea for anyone with the least bit of critical scientific knowledge. It's just too dumb in its fundamental concepts as I understand them.
But I can see where the theory could come from and why it persists, since the concept of "evolution" does exist in our everyday lives with the birth of every primate. But just look around. Mankind is uniquely different than all the other animals, including apes, which in no way are above the other creatures as far as intelligence or anything else that would have us believe they are an intermediary step to man.
Sure, evolution seems logical sometimes, but the facts are just not there.
