You brought up an interesting point about the fuss being made over blood. We witnesses get our aversion to blood from a few texts found in the Bible. Usually blood is grouped along with a few other sins like Fornication and Idolatry. Yet the Blood policy (due to its incomprehensibility) is the only sin that requires a "Liason Comittee". Why aren't there any "Fornication and Adultery Liason comittees"? Because those teachings are straight forward. But the blood policy requires elaborate circular explanations, charts, graphs and excerpts from medical journals.Another purpose the Liason comitte serves is as an unofficial policing organization. Think about it; a liason comittee is suppose to help doctors understand JW blood policy, yet what we see is the comittee taking a more proactive stance in cases of emergency. They are usually at the hospital before even being invited, giving medical advice to patients and warning off doctors from pursuing any blood related treatments. If the JW patient decides to excercise their conscience and accept blood the comittee can easily find out and begin judicial proceedures. I think a more accurate term would be "Blood policing Comittee".
