On the Australian tv program here a couple of nights ago re jws and blood, one of the people interviewed watched his jw father dying slowly for need of a transfusion. It took about 2 weeks for him to die from a work accident which slowly resulted in a break down of bodily function - it was apparently a very slow and pitiful death. The guy said that no matter what time of the day or night he went to visit his father there was a jw elder in a suit standing vigil at his father's bed - until he died.
The son also said that the experience had left him with the overwhelming feeling that Jehovah would not require his people to sacrifice their lives in this way.
