This is one thing I just don't get about jws. If the hospital over-rides the parents decision, then the jw is home free. Clear conscience. Alive loved one. No judicial hearing - everything hunky dory. So why do they seek legal action to prevent their kids from getting a life saving transfusion? If it was me I'd be jumping for joy that the decision had been taken from me. I'd be drumming the table, annoyed that the authorities were taking too long to assume responsibility over me, a religious nutter!!! What else do I have to do to prove how loopy I am? Stand on my head and yodel??
Another thing J, while I'm on my soap box, it appears to me that jws are overly defensive about the blood issue. Too much policing, and too much interference in people's lives over it. I feel that they should set down their rule and stay out of it unless specifically called in. However jw hospital liason members often rush in thumping the table about no blood when a specific proceedure is highly unlikely to require blood. I know, because I was there recently when this happened. It's embarrassing and the hospital staff think the dubs are 'out to lunch'. There is way more prohibitive talk in the Bible about fornication or adultery, but there is almost a relaxed attitude about these sins compared to the fuss that is made over blood. It kinda smacks of "I think thou doth protest too much"!!!
