If I were a "reform minded JW," and ran H2O, I believe I would act just as Rick has. Those of us who recognize the terminal weaknesses in JWism don't maintain the same perspective as someone like Rick, or Nicodemus, or Friend -- really, the people for whom this board exists!
This is not supposed to be primarily an ex-JW or JW-critical board. It certainly has evolved into that, and since the topic brings with it a certain amount of aminosity (religious dicussions have that unavoidable tendency), posts have reflected attitudes that compromise the purpose of the board, and routinely border on violating the FPP.
I believe the critics of Rick and the admins aren't being entirely fair when they accuse him/them of being hypocrites regarding their advocation of "free speech." Remember, guys, these admins are Jehovah's Witnesses, so "free speech" doesn't necessarily imply the same connotations as it would elsewhere. I do agree that people simply shouldn't get away with clear insults and put downs, even if they would be warranted in casual conversation. We're all guilty of that, and maybe it's time for H2O to clean up its act.
I'm trying to be objective here. I see H2O shutting down soon if all we have to talk about is which moderator deleted which post for whatever
reason. Something has to give. Perhaps it is time for the most vocal critics of the WTS to suppress their more emotional outbursts, or else become unwelcome. I know, I know, that's difficult to do when we're forced to deal with some of
the more ignorant JWs that post here occasionally, especially us veterans that have been around for so long, but for the board's sake, it might have to be so.
