Some interesting points there.

I, too, was quite disturbed by the often barbaric God, as portrayed in the old testament. Many things he did were (in my eyes) evil.

However, a God who provided humans with no instruction on how to behave; no explanation of how we got here and what we're supposed to be doing; no hope for the future or of ever seeing our dead loved ones again; a God who just sat back and watched this anarchy and suffering but did nothing.....

Well, the barbaric God of the old testament doesn't seem like such a bad guy after all!
