The Matamata |

The Matamatas is my first DIY (do-it-yourself) Chapter and it follows all the rules for the Salamanders, being a subsequent
founding using the Salamanders geneseed.
The Chapter was inspired by the Matamata Turtle, Chelus fimbriatus, a native of South America. According to Fritz Jurgen Obst, the Indian South American name Matamata means "I kill". It is the largest freshwater turtle in the whole world with a carapace length of 18 inches. Due to its unique shape and look, the Matamatas is very well camouflaged and unnoticed by prey until it strikes. It captures prey much like a vacumn machine, sucking fish and water into it mouth. The water is expelled out of the mouth before the fish is swallowed whole and alive. 
Copyright http://www.whozoo.org Since the inspiration was a turtle, it only makes sense to make use of the Salamanders geneseed, since salamanders, like turtles are reptiles. Besides, I like the fluff for the Salamanders which I find very characterful, and I like their armour colour. As an aside, I tried to follow the format of the Index Astartes as given in White Dwarf. =) |
