Index Astartes: The Matamatas - Combat Doctrine |
| The Matamatas deviate from the normal Space Marine tactical and strategic dogma. They have a preference for close-ranged firefights, employing multiple flamer and melta weapons. Due in part to the mineral wealth of Kopjes, the Matamatas have more Techmarines than a normal Chapter and hence are able to construct and maintain many highly sophisticated forms of technology in the construction workshops of their ships. As such, there is a greater number of suits of Terminator armour, artificer armour and other weaponry uncommon to other Chapters. Thunder Hammers are common, reminiscent of the time when the Space Marine hunts on Kopjes. Storm Shields are another common sight, often used in conjuncture with a Thunder Hammer. These Storm Shields are personalised, incorporating the Matamata scale the Space Marine obtained from the Matamata he slewed to prove himself worthy to be admitted into the Chapter. |
