;My name is Laura, and I am fifteen years old. I was born at North Shore Hospital, on January 5th, 1987 and grew up in Riverdale, New York, a suburb of the Bronx, till I was eight, so, basically I'm a "city girl". I am an only child of a pediatrician and a social worker. My father was born in Brooklyn, New York and my mother was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My family is American, however my grandfather was born in Russia and was an immigrant here in the US. As I grew up in the Bronx, I took ballet for six years at the Bronx Dance Theater and gymnastics for two years. I went to public school in Riverdale for Kindergarten, first grade and second grade and then moved to Port Washington going into third grade, September 1995. This was hard being new at first and not knowing anyone, but as you can see, I managed to survive. Growing up here, in Port Washington for now about seven years, I've been able to make close friends and find certain hobbies, that I do. Now, I attend Schreiber High School as a Freshman. I enjoy life here, in my hectic everyday life. During the week I am so busy because I dance three times a week with Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet and maybe soon Tap, Modern or Musical Theater. Also, during the week I participate in the school's drama club, because I enjoy acting. I've only been in one play here, but I plan to continue more this year and the next three years. The reason that I did not participate in many plays in high school, was because I participated in a play at JCC (Jewish Community Center), called Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. However, I feel that continuing in school productions will give me more, sophisticated acting ability and possibly larger roles as I get older. Also, during the week I take private voice lessons, that I've been taking for three years. During my free time I like to go shopping and talk online with friends. I have a dog named Ricky. I do not have a job, but this year I've had frequent babysitting jobs. During the summer I go to sleep away camp that I have been going to for five years. I enjoy going away for the summer, getting the experience of living with other people besides my parents, and becoming close with them. I like to go on vacation to warm, tropical places, like Puerto Rico, where I am going to for February vacation. In terms of my future I have many goals. Of course I'd like to complete my four years of High School successfully. My goal is to stay on high honor roll every single quarter, which means I have to obviously work hard to get good grades. Although I have a lot of time to decide, I would really like to go to TISCH, the performing arts school of NYU for college because I'm interested in acting and music, and I love the city, therefore I am going to try my best to meet that goal. As well as performing, I am very interested in writing, so I would also like to become a novelist or a screenplay writer. I don't like to read that much, but I know I can work hard to meet that goal of writing. I also hope to keep my friends that I have now, but I would still like to make more as the years go by. Hopefully, I can keep in touch with all of them throughout high school and maybe even college.
