What's Going On With This Love Scene?
Act 2: Scene 2

Setting:
Previously on our show, Roger was at a party with the Montagues and the Capulets. These two families are harsh enemies but are at a party together. This party is a public party and other families or groups are there as well. Marc and Ben thought it would be a good idea for Roger to go and meet other girls so he could get over Rachel, whom he loved only for her appearance. However, their love for one another was not mutual. She didn't love him.

Meanwhile, the chaos between the two rival families grows. Roger comes face to face with Julia, a Capulet, who is only a junior and Roger is a senior. They immediately fall "head over heels" in love. Unfortunately they are forbidden to socialize because of their adverse families. Now Roger has the chance to secretly see Julia by sneaking into the junior prom and finding her. Ben and Marc are supposed to meet him there to just crash it but they can't seem to find him.

BEN: I can't believe that I can't find Roger. He was supposed to meet me a few hours ago outside of school at the junior prom. We were planning to crash it. I don't why he'd be there, inside anyway. The girl he likes, Rachel isn't even going to be there.

MARC: Yeah, last year at the Spring Dance 2001, several seniors crashed the junior prom. They did it by hopping the bushes and climbing through the upstairs window. The trellis allowed the guys to get to the second story. Yeah, you know Roger might do this to distract himself to go there from thinking of Rachel.

BEN: Surprisingly, yesterday at that party, Roger didn't seem to be around any of us, but I know he was there. He was probably bawling over Rachel. Seeing her probably made him angry. He has to get over her already! Sheesh!

(Marc and Ben walk to the bushes and see a broken branch. Roger has climbed up to the second floor and tries to climb into the window not realizing it is the girl's bathroom)

ROGER: (aloud but to himself) Marc laughs at me for my sensitivity of love because it never happened to him. Oh, anyway I hope I see Julia. We'd have fun, she's my new interest.

(Julia is in the girls bathroom and goes towards the window)

ROGER: Oh good. There she is! She doesn't seem to see me, or is that is good thing? I wish she knew how much I'm in love with her. It doesn't seem like she realizes it. After all she's a Capulet and I'm a Montague and god knows our families have been rivals for so long. It seems ridiculous my Italian family cannot make peace with her English family.

JULIA: (aloud but to herself) This prom is no fun. All I can think about is Roger. Unfortunately, he's not aloud in because he's a senior. Why does he have to be in that family. That rival family that we just can't ever get along with. THAT'S LIFE FOR ME

(Roger sneezes outside the bathroom window. Julia screams and sees him)

ROGER: Julia, I hear you!

JULIA: Roger! What are you doing here, this is a private place.

ROGER: I know, but I wanted to see you, Julia.

JULIA: I've been thinking if you could disown your family. If you do this, I will as well disown mine. That way we are just who we are and we won't let family names ruin us. Besides, a name means nothing, but our feelings mean everything.

ROGER: I agree. I will no longer be a Montague.

JULIA: I love you, but you really shouldn't stay here. If you stay, you might be punished severely. I know someone who might want to kill you. But tell me, before you leave, that you really love me.

ROGER: I swear on my life. I love you.

JULIA: Don't swear. We have to end this now, this whole relationship is developing too quickly. Hurry, leave, I see someone coming- let's plan to meet tomorrow secretly. Send me an email with the time and place and we shall get married at once.

NETTA: Juliet, come on right now, everyone is looking for you! They're playing your favorite song and David wants to dance with you.

JULIA: Okay, I'll be right there. You don't have to wait for me, Netta. (To Roger) I'll send you an email by nine oclock my love. I always want you close enough that I can pull you back whenever I need you.

ROGER: Id always want to be there when you need me. When Im with you, you are the only person that I consider family. I forget that I have another home.

JULIA: Good night, Roger. Saying good bye is so hard especially to someone I love. If only we could talk the whole night.

ROGER: Yes Julia. Sleep well, be at peace with yourself. I will now head home to what feels like a jail cell. Ill worry about my fortune when I speak to my god. Sleep well Julia.
