Robert Efinger was born 1830 in Hamburg, Germany. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a sail boat. His trip took six months. The boat struck a leak and they had to dip water to keep from sinking. They landed on an island and waited some length of time to be rescued. One day a boat came by and they were off again to finish their trip. They landed in New York where Robert worked as a brick layer. (as told to Oliveward Hunzicker by Delsie Meldon Efinger-Hunzicker)
