Robert Efinger was born 1830 in Hamburg, Germany. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a sail boat. His trip took six months. The boat struck a leak and they had to dip water to keep from sinking. They landed on an island and waited some length of time to be rescued. One day a boat came by and they were off again to finish their trip. They landed in New York where Robert worked as a brick layer. She worked for two years in a boarding house. Her uncle was a brick layer. He met Robert Effinger and introduced him to Margaretha. They were married after three meetings. Margaretha Kraus was buried at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas.2 She was born on 12 November 1832 at Baden, Germany.3 She immigrated in 1853 to Germany to New York. She married Robert Efinger, son of Melchior Efinger and Magdalena Schaub, on 17 October 1854 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rochester, New York.4 Margaretha Kraus died on 9 July 1922 at Johnson County, Kansas, at age 89.2

Colonel Richard Brown Richard Brown (1739-1811) served as lieutenant and captain, 1775, in Miles' rifle regiment; was taken prisoner at Long Island. He was born in Maryland; died in Brooke County, Va. (now Hancock County, W. Va.). He was born in 1739 at Maryland. He was the son of George Brown and Mary Stevenson. Colonel Richard Brown married Honour Wells, daughter of General James Wells II and Ann Thornborough, on 17 November 1759 at Ohio.1 Colonel Richard Brown began military service in 1775 Served as lieutenant and captain, 1775, in Miles' rifle regiment; was taken prisoner at Long Island.2 He died on 8 February 1811 at Brooke County, Va. (now Hancock County, W. Va.).2
