5) We sold tickets on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch throughout
March and April. Tickets sold before the end of April cost $40, and we
needed double staffing to handle the crowds on that last $40 day. If a
student put down a deposit before the end of April, we honored the $40
price. (No refunds)
During May, we continued the Tuesday/Thursday sales, but the price went
up to $45.
The last week of May and the first week of June were very busy. We
sold tickets every day instead of just Tues/Thurs, and we had 4 volunteers
each day. Some days we needed them, some days we didn't.
I ended up going to graduation rehearsals to round up the last permission
slips, and several kids bought their tickets then. Since we had room on
the buses, it wasn't a problem, but you'll have to play it by ear.
A lot of scholarship tickets were issued during the last two weeks
of sales. We had asked administrators to identify kids who might need help,
and some of us gave the administrators names of kids we thought were too
shy to ask for help. Let THEM handle it.
Try to get one or two junior parents to help sell tickets so next year
they'll have an idea of what went on.
I recommend that the person in charge of ticket sales BE THERE when
the kids are checking in for Grad Night. That person will probably remember
most of the students and all of the weird circumstances that will come
up and be questioned by the other parent volunteers that night.
