Brothers,
As you may already know, the members of Level Lodge who were present at the annual meeting on December 10, 2001, voted unanimously to amend our By-Laws, reducing our required number of Stated Communications to one per month, on the second Monday. This change will be, I feel, a good one for the Lodge, and will take place in February, 2002.
We are facing a crucial year in the life of Level Lodge. Attendance and participation are at an all time low, and I feel that should this continue, we will find ourselves in a situation where it very likely that we will not have total control over our destiny as a lodge.
We have filled the required seven officer positions, but we are lacking stewards, and a tyler . I will gladly pro tem those positions, but it would be a great gesture on your part toward the officers who have worked so hard over the last year to come to one of our communications and even offer your services in a chair for that evening. There are only TEN communications scheduled for this year;surely you can come to ONE.
We will be having more dinners this year. Again, as we have constantly stated, you NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS. The price, of course, is free, so the only real cost to you is picking up the phone and calling the Secretary.
I would like to thank the brothers w ho have taken chairs in the line of officers this year. Lately, theirs is often a thankless lot and I appreciate their dedication.
I would like to welcome Brother Larry Baker to the post of secretary. Please join me in wishing him well, and please let's make his job easy this year by getting your dues in on time!
Lastly, let me express my profound gratitude to WB Larry Elsner for
his years of service as Secretary. Larry's approach to Masonry may
be a bit unorthodox at times, but I know from watching him work, that if
you cut him, he will bleed Masonic blue. His dedication is a valuable
asset to our Lodge and fraternity
Fraternally,
WB Frank Way, Worshipful Master
Brothers,
Thank you for electing me to the position of lodge secretary,
and entrusting me with this important job. I';m available for you,
please don't hesitate to call. Also, I'm open to any input you might
have to help me do my job better.
Fraternally,
Bro. Larry Baker, Secretary
Worshipful Brother Mike Jacobs is again our Sick Committee chairman. Please call him if you know of a brother in sickness or distress. Communication is the lifeblood of our lodge, and the lodge will be happy to fulfill its Masonic obligations, but we can only do that if we know of a problem. Please call
Level Lodge has decided to have more dinners this year. As is
our tradition, the cost is free. But, my brothers, we need to have
reservations. It is extraordinarily difficult to plan a meal when
we do not have reservations. You need to make reservations in order
to eat. If we do not have a reservation from you, please be aware
that you might not eat. You'll be welcome of course, but to ensure
that you are served, you MUST make a reservation. Call our Secretary,
Brother Larry Baker
In December of 2002, Level Lodge will have the honor and privilege of
hosting the annual meeting of the Hartford County Lodge of Actual Past
Masters. WB Stephen Thal will be sitting as Right Worshipful Master
of that body. Level Lodge will provide dinner and any other assistance
that may be required. Volunteers are needed. Please call WB
Frank Way. You do not need to be a Past Master to volunteer, but
only Actual Past Masters can attend the degree. Let's have
a good Level Lodge turnout in support of Steve!
