| The British Other Ranks' Leave Hostel was situated approx. 5 miles out of George Town up the North Coast Road. The Ayer Itam Temple and Monastery has pools in the Temple Gardens containing sacred turtles. A small Chinese Snake Temple is on the Eastern side of the island. The snakes, which are sacred, inhabit the temple in large numbers. It is not adviable to touch them. See |
