hwilc, hwelc 'which' (declined as a strong adjective)

Relative Pronouns

There are no specific relative pronouns. Instead, there are three options for the making of a relative clause:

- The relative particle þe (undeclinable)
- The personal pronoun + þe
- The personal pronoun alone

Sometimes swilc 'such' or swā 'as' may be used instead.

Indefinite Pronouns

ælc 'each'
swilc 'such'
ān 'a, an'
ōþer 'a second, other'
ænig 'any'
nænig 'none'
sum 'a certain'

Interrogatives used as Indefinites:

hwā 'anyone, someone, etc.'
hwæþer 'whichever'
hwilc 'whichever, whosoever'

Interrogatives used with swā:

swā hwā swā 'whosoever'
swā hwæþer swā 'whichever of two'

Interrogatives in Context:

āhwā 'anyone'
āhwæt 'anything'
nāhwæþer 'neither'
ægwæþer, ægþer 'either'
āhwæþer, āþer, ōþer 'either'
æghwā, æthwā, gehwā 'each'
æghwilc, gehwilc 'each'
sumhwȳlc 'someone'
hwæthwega 'something'
hwilcwega 'any one'
æthwega 'somewhat'

Other Substantive Indefinites:
