Oasis
have been in a studio in BUCKINGHAMSHIRE recording material
which will be included in their fifth full studio album - the
follow-up to last year's 'STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS'.
Speaking to PA news, Gallagher said of the songs recorded so
far, his brother Liam has written four, while Andy Bell and
Gem Archer have each written two.
Gallagher said: "I was a bit wary at first. So I said
play us one of your tunes, and I thought 'What if it sounds
rubbish?' And honestly they sound good. They sound like us, so
it's cool.
"It's been going all right. We're just recording all the
songs people have got and at the end we'll mix them and then
we'll pick the best songs for the record."
Liam Gallagher is yet to record any vocal parts for the
record, which is rumoured to have a working title of 'Longtime
Servant Of The Gun'. However, Noel said Liam is able to
control his drinking, and that a ban on alcohol in the studio
is no longer necessary.
He said: "We only had (the alcohol ban) last time because
he was drinking a lot because he was unhappy, which is why
people drink. He's not drinking a lot this time, he's got it
under control. Everybody's fine - it's cool."
Oasis have traditionally used producers on the recording of
their album, the last record being produced by Mark 'Spike'
Stent. However, Noel said that he plans to produce this one
himself.
He joked: "It's almost like the apprenticeship has been
served. It's no disrespect to the people who produced the
records in the past, but I've spent six years sitting behind
these guys and thinking 'but all they do is tell the engineer
what to do, I could do that!'. "
Noel concluded by saying he was not ruling a release out
before the end of the year, and that the album will be
"definitely" released by early 2002.
Songs slated to appear on the new album Include 'Revival',
'Songbird', 'She Is Love', 'The Roller', 'Who's Lookin'',
'Stand Out Man', 'Streets Ahead But Miles Behind', 'Together',
'It's A Crime', 'Longtime Servant Of The Gun', 'Heart On
Sleeve' and 'Shout It Out Loud'. |

| Noel
with the Crowes |

The
Black Crowes were joined onstage by OASIS' NOEL GALLAGHER, as
they unveiled songs from their forthcoming new album 'LIONS'
at a star-studded industry gig in LONDON last night (April 9).
Noel took to the stage towards the end of the set to play
guitar on a cover of the old Fleetwood Mac song 'Oh Well, Pt
1'. His brother Liam was also at the show, wearing a white fur
coat and accompanied by his All Saints girlfriend Nicole
Appleton. Other celebrities in attendance included the
Prodigy's Keith Flint, movie star Kyle MacLachlan, TV
presenter Cat Deeley, model Jodie Kidd and, it was rumoured,
Rod Stewart.
The Black Crowes' set was a relatively tame affair, peppered
with drawn-out guitar duelling, but at one point frontman
Chris Robinson berated a member of the crowd who complained
that he couldn't hear Rich Robinson's backing vocals - the
singer told the fan that he should be grateful that he got
into the concert for free.
The set list was:
'Midnight From The Inside Out'
'Lickin''
'Greasy Grass River'
'Ballad In Urgency'
'Wiser Time'
'Soul Singing'
'Cosmic Friend'
'Virtue And Vice'
'Oh Well Pt1' (with Noel Gallagher)
'Young Man Old Man'
The Black Crowes' new album 'Lions' will be released on May 7,
shortly before the group begin their 'Brotherly Love' tour
with Oasis on May 11 in Las Vegas. The band are expected to
announce a UK tour shortly. |

| Liam
Worst than Beckam |

Footie
hero David Beckham is most men's idea of the perfect father.
The Manchester United star, dad of two-year-old Brooklyn, came
top in an ideal parents survey of first-time dads.
Oasis star Liam Gallagher, who has two children and is
expecting a third with All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, was
named the worst role model for new fathers.
Strangely, a quarter of dads questioned by Norwich Union
Healthcare, wanted to experience the sensation of being
pregnant for a day. And nine out of 10 said watching their
partner give birth was their best experience - even though a
fifth admitted to feeling squeamish. But only one in three
said they took the trouble to read anything about childbirth. |
