Exprimez-vous P. 31#1

The project was introduced by going over the general directions and discussing possible focus areas. The students expressed interest in various aspects of the county history that were talked about by other students. Many of the students stated that they did not know that many of the events had taken place in the county and asked if they could use the class computers to begin looking for information. During the initial research, students found obituaries of relatives, satellite photos of their homes and articles about the area.

After setting their final project objectives, in order to find the needed information, students continued to research on the Internet, in books about the county and they conducted interviews with family members and other county residents.

Ben, Tara and Ashley

Final reports were presented to the class in French. The students were allowed to add additional information after the formal presentation in English. The students were surprised at the number of events and places associated with their towns and county.

This class includes a foreign exchange student. In order to accommodate the needs of this student, more emphasis was placed on the county rather than specific towns. We also spent additional time giving her ideas about what to research.

Isabel

As part of the research and final stages of this project, students contacted members of the community. One of these community members was asked to visit the classroom and discuss a book that he had written for the local historical society. All contacts, scheduling and further arrangements were done by students.
