| We don't know how many siblings Great, grand mother, Dolores Guerrero, had. I know of Mercedes (Mam Meche) and Soledad (Ta Cholita), who never had children. Mercedes married Enrique Fuentes and had Pedro, Luz Mara (Lucha), Josefina, Enriqueta (Queta), Magdalena (Elena), Roberto and Amanda Fuentes Guerrero. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I am not sure who are in the 1st and 2nd photo, but I believe that in the 1st one they are the grandchildren of our maternal great, great grand mother who married a Guerrero (descendent of Vicente Guerrero, or so we have been told); i.e., the mother of Dolores, Mercedes and Soledad with her grandchildren. I think they are, in the 2nd photo, Mercedes, her mother and her husband, Enrique Fuentes.
Enriqueta married Cuauhtemoc Atristain Uria and had Sergio, Alberto and Luz Mara (La Gera) Atristain Fuentes (in the middle in the 6th photo, and next to me in the 7th one). Sergio married Virginia, an American lady and had Sergio (Chess), Perry, Richard (Rickie) and Veronica (Chacha). There are Perry, Chess and I in our powerful bikes in 1957 (4th photo). Uncle Alberto married Alicia Deras and had two children a boy (Jos Luis) who lives in Canada, and a girl. He got divorced and since married and divorced a few more times. Aunt Luz Mara (better know as "La Gera") married Javier Cristo Campa and had two boys and a girl: Javier (El Gero), Rosa Mara and Roberto (Tito). In the last photo, Rosa Mara, Aunt Gera, and Javier Cristo (He was a good poker player). I am next to her, in the 6th photo. My wife tells me we look a lot alike, so in that case, I look more like the Guerreros than the Poucel side of the family. Go figure! My Aunt Gera had Javier (El Gero), Rosa Mara and Roberto (Tito). El Gero was my assistant for at the CIDE (Economics Center for Research and Teaching) from 1976 to 79. He was murdered in 1995, as some thieves were robbing him out of his motorcycle. Rosa Mara married Fermin San Martn and had a child by the same name. Fermn is now 15 years old, and a very successful competitive rower, having won various national and international competitions. My Grand Aunt Lucha married Juan Merino and had Enrique, Alicia and Jos Luis Merino Fuentes. In the 3rd photo, Enrique, Juan Merino, Jose Luis, Aunt Lucha and Alicia. Uncle Enrique lived at Aunt Duba for a couple of years, when my Aunt Lucha had trouble with her husband. That is why, we saw more of Uncle Enrique. He married Raymunda Restelli (Aunt Munda) and had Enrique II (Quique) and Alfredo (Freddie). They both went to the William School, where my brother and I also attended. My uncle Enrique died fairly young. He was great! My uncle Jos Luis married Blanca Vazquez and had Jose Luis (Pepe), Patricia (Patty) and Juan. He was a lawyer, and a very successful real state developer. He tried to sell me my first house, after I came back from my master and Ph.D. studies in England in 1976. He helped my uncle Emiliano (my mother's brother) when he was out of work. He would call me, at least once a month, asking me to develop my house in Acapulco with him into condominiums. My Aunt Alicia is still around and in good shape. She worked in Washington D.C. as personal assistant to the Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Mexico to the OAS, Rafael de la Colina. She lived in Arlington, Virginia, where we saw her regularly after my arrival there in 1979 to work at the Inter-American Development Bank. However, she had a little falling out with my first wife Bethany, cooling off the relationship. The 5th photo has my Aunt Lucha as I remember her. She was always on the go, coming to our house at least once or twice a week. Going up and down the city, every day of the week. She and her sister, Aunt Queta, were very close to Aunt Duba. My cousin Patty married Federico Pizarro and had a son by the same name on 2 December 1971. Federico II became one of the best Mexican bull fighters (last photo). He is now entering the show business, starring in soap operas. We wish him success. He already has the talent, strength and character. |
