Appendice 6: Sofis
Sofis is a Discipline similar to Protean, but keeping to only one aspect of this Discipline: Serpent-like powers. Unlike the Bastis Discipline, the transformations are not faster, but this Discipline makes up with more supernatural edge.
This Discipline is the central Discipline of the Ouro-Sen, the Sisters of the Uræus. This Bloodline will be corrupted, and when Set will come back in 935 BC, he will be followed by the survivors of this Bloodline, who will become the Followers of Set. Sofis will be altered by the Wyrm's influence, meddling it with the Path of Corruption and some Rituals coming from the Senef Hekau.
* : Eye of the Cobra
Similar to the Eye of Sekmet of the Bastis Discipline, the
Eye of the Cobra enable the Ouro-Sen to develop reptilian
golden eyes with black vertical pupils. The Ouro-Sen this power
to cause fright to most living creatures, including
semi-awakened ones (Hedge Mages, Ghouls, Kinfolk etc.).
They can, however, use Willpower to free themselves from the
influence of this stare for one turn.
The Ouro-Sen wins another sense when using this power:
Their eyes are now able to see in the near-infrared spectrum,
seeing, no matter the current lighting, the heat of objects,
and more importantly, living (or unliving) creatures.
System: Automatic and Instantaneous.
The Vampire can see, in addition to her normal vision, the
heat of the objects (down to the temperature of freezing water
(273.15 Kelvins, 0 Celsius degrees or 32 Farenheight). It enables
them to see in almost every condition of low to total darkness,
as even the walls are of a different density from the air. But the
range of this power is normaly more or less 20 meters (more for
high-temperature objects, like boiling water, less for objects
of air temperature but with different densities). This detection
won't work in water, but still enable the Ouro-Sen to see celestial
objects in a very different way...
Animals are automatically paralysed and can't free themselves from the paralysing terror unless they are predators. Predators and humans are paralysed, too, but they can use a Willpower point to free themselves from the influence for 1 turn. As this power is similar to Dominate, the Vampire and its victim must meet their stares for the power to work. As for Serpentis 1, unless they work at avoiding this, they inconsciously look at those strange eyes (deadly curiosity, isn't it?)
this power will be changed by the Wyrm's influence. The I.R. detection will disappear, but the paralysing power will increase to affect even supernatural creatures.
** : Tongue of the Asp
This power is similar to the power of Serpentis **
System: See Serpentis **, in the Vampire Player
Guide, p141, in the Vampire: The Dark Ages, p163
or in Vampire: The Masquerade, Revised Edition, p177
*** : Skin of the Adder
This power is similar to the power of Serpentis *** of the Revised Edition.
System: 1 Blood Point & 1 Willpower Point.
See Serpentis ***, in the Vampire: The Masquerade, Revised
Edition, p177. For enlightment purpose, consider it enables
the Ouro-Sen to create a serpent-like hide that enable her to
soak Aggravated Damage with her Stamina.
**** : Metamorphosis
This power is similar to the Serpentis **** power.
System: See Serpentis ****, in the Vampire Player
Guide, p141, in the Vampire: The Dark Ages, p163
or in the Vampire: The Masquerade, Revised Edition, p177.
Note: A Ouro-Sen can use a Merit similar to
those discribed in the Gangrel Clanbook to change the color of
her animal form. The Animal Form is a giant, silvery Uræus.
After the Sofis becames Serpentis, the Uraæus will become
the black cobra. Changing to other serpentine forms should be
monitored.
***** : Venomeous Spitting
The Ouro-Sen can know spit her deadly venom to her foes. This venom is usually fatal to normal mortals. Semi-Awakened or Awakened creatures suffer from Aggravated Damage. The normal range is 3 meters.
System: 1 Blood Point. Dexterity+Perception, Diff:6
The Ouro-Sen must succeed in a Dexterity+Perception, Diff:6. The
number of successes is the Aggravated Damage suffered by the
creature (note that non-Awakened mortal will die with but one
success). The difficulty can be adjusted as by firearm
bonuses/maluses (point blank is less than 50 cm).
***** * : Power
System: ???
***** ** : Divine Uræus Form
The Ouro-Sen can take now the form of a giant Uræus (treat this as a giant cobra) being as long as 20 meters/yards for half a meter/yard or more in diameter. Mortals seem to be greatly affected by this form, as it provokes some mental state known by the Garous as the Delirium. The strenght and any other physical attribute of the Vampire is greatly enhanced.
System: 3 Turns, 3 Blood Points
Each physical attribute of the Vampire is increased by three.
The normal color is a jade color. The Serpentis form of this
power will be a jet-black Cobra.
