Use the confinement barn for horses with contagious diseases or suspected of having a contagious disease.


In case of show barn fire, mares and geldings will be redirected to the indoor arena. Stallions will be redirected to the foaling barn.

The jobs of workers include:
Calling for fire department: Brendan May
Evacuating horses: Chloe, Lawrence, Stefan, Chandler, Colette, Severine, Aisley
Waiting for fire trucks: Tasya
Attempting to extinguish fire: Cory, Jarek


In case of foaling barn fire, mares with foals will be released to the broodmare pasture. Foals already weaned will be redirected to the show barn.

The jobs of workers include:
Calling for fire department: Brendan
Evacuating horses: Chloe, Lawrence, Stefan, Chandler, Colette, Severine, Aisley
Waiting for fire trucks: Tasya
Attempting to extinguish fire: Cory, Jarek


In case of evacuation, horses will be transported to the Johnny Crockett Arena. In case of city evacuation, horses will be transported to Sunny Side Equines.

For any evacuation, duties of workers include:
Calling intended destination: Cory
Hooking up trailers: Lawrence, Stefan, Chandler
Loading Horses: Brendan, Jarek, Tasya, Severine
Gathering Records: Chloe, Colette
Gathering first aid kits/extra halters and leads: Kayli, Aisley


Barn First Aid Kits:
-1 lb.roll of 12" absorbent cotton
-2 rolls gauze (2" wide)
-2 rolls gauze (4" wide)
-flexible stretch adhesive/cohesive bandages
-thermometer with thong and clip
-stethoscope
-watch
-4" sterile wound dressing
-bandage scissors
-rubbing alcohol
-1 roll adhesive tape (2" width)
-antibacterial/microbial dressing
-antimicrobial/antiseptic scrub
-leg bandages with appropriate padding for 4 stable wraps
-body wash or liniment
-petroleum jelly
-iodine
-gloves
-flashlight
-pocket knife
-wire cutters
-Benamine
-Phenylbutazone paste
-Acepromazine
-Epinephrine
-needles and syringes
-twitch
-powder to staunch bleeding
-epsom salt
-bottled water
-towels
-6 inch piece of garden hose

We plan ahead and keep things organized in order to save the lives of our horses as well as to protect the safety of the humans involved. Changes to plans may be called for as certain situations arise.
