Mr. Williams |
Welcome Third Graders! This is your very own page! Aren't you excited? I know I am! Right now we are working on the instruments of the orchestra and we had a great time this week as we watched the classic tale of "Tubby the Tuba." We also started learning the song "Macnamara's Band", which is an excellent song to help us with instruments. Next week, we will read a terrific story by actor John Lithgow called "The Remarkable Farkle Mcbride" Also, we will continue our work on the song Macnamara's Band. Finally, you will find out what the secret brass instrument in the case is! Can you name all the brass instruments? Now I know what you're thinking. "Mr. Williams, what about the Kazoo part?" Well Bravo to you for thinking that! We will be making our own kazoos in the next few weeks to go with the song. Please start bringing in your used toilet paper rolls to help us with this project. I've listed some links for you to look at for the coming weeks, which have lots of cool information on instruments. Also, you can read the lyrics to "Macnamara's Band." Take a look and enjoy! |

New York Philharmonic Kidszone
Similar to Dallas Symphony Kids. Go here to learn even more about instruments.
This has many young kids around your age, or a little older, playing different instruments. You can choose them by instrument or state. You can even hear a fantastic bassoon player from right here in Columbus (Mary House)!
This is one of my favorites. They even have a matching game on here where you have to match the sound of the instrument to it's picture. Far out!
Another site with instruments and games. Man, there sure are lots of these!
Another one of my favorites. You can actually download kids records, including Tubby the Tuba and The Whale Who Could Sing Opera, legally for free. Kids, make sure you ask your parents or teacher before downloading the songs!
