What Is Lifelong Learning? Come on, let's wake up! We are living in the digital age. This is a fast-paced life we are having. We cannot just sit back and watch as our old learning crumbles into uselessness. We need to act now. We may be the next victim of skill obsolescence. Let's start re-educating ourselves now. Tomorrow may be too late. Lifelong learning is a concept I came across as I was researching for a report on educational technology which was a requirement for the e-technology course I am enrolled in. The basic idea is that education is now becoming to be a lifelong process and that education does not stop after a college degree. A change of career has become a fairly common occurrence which might necessitate a reeducation process. I am now enrolled in a two-year e-technology course which will prepare me for a job as a web site developer or programmer. This is just like taking up a master's degree for me but in reality, it is a preparatory course for a job that entails developing applications for the Internet. I have just completed programming fundamentals and structured query language and in the process of learning unified modeling language, HTML and JAVA. Who knows what it will be for the next three semesters? There is Linux, C++, Visual Basic, etc., all of which are skills that are in demand right now. One question keeps on frequently coming up though, will these skills still be relevant after two years. I just hope so. Anyway, this web site will contain stuff that I write as I embark on this journey of learning to become useful in the Internet world. It will hopefully become a useful reference for the next generation if students who will pursue the same course in the future. However, those of you who are reeducating yourselves through self-study may also find some items that may be of use in your personal quest to become a Internet worker. Feel free to browse on the articles I have included as I give you my personal wish for an interesting lifelong learning.
