Sam Houston
" The Raven"
1793-1863

Studying Sam Houston, one of the greatest leaders in the history of Texas was very exciting this year.  Not only did we read about him in class, but we were able to hear about him from Sam Houston himself.  Well actually, it was from an expert on Sam Houston, Jack Edmondson who has studied several Texas Heroes and portrays them to the best of his knowledge.  After visiting with "Sam," the class decided to e-mail "Sam," and ask him questions about his life, the battles he was in, and about all the offices he held.
After his visit in February, a student and her family went to Huntsville, Texas to see his statue and where he use to live.  He not only made an impact on the history of Texas, but has changed our class' lives too.
