The first place we stopped in California was Redwood State Park. These giants, some aged over 2000 years, often reach 300 feet upward and span 14 feet across. |

Napa Valley, home to many California wineries, was a fun place to spend the day, especially after a few tastings. |

San Francisco is my favorite city so far. It bustles with activity, from the stores that line Fisherman's wharf, to the fun, former hippy district of Haight Ashbury. At night, the wharf morphs into a boardwalk atmosphere, with cheap shops, bright lights, and free shows that help entrepreneurs sell their wares. |

Caramel by the Sea is allegedly one of California's most beautiful beaches. I won't deny this, but I did have issues with the thick crowds and impossible parking! |

Big Sur provided hikes that took us from forests to secluded beaches back to greenery. The trail wound through great views of the Santa Cruz Mountains on one side, and cliffs on the other that dip into the ocean below. |
