Jerome Jackson was born January 6, 1946 to Mr. and Mrs. Haten (Lillie Ann) Jackson. He attended East St. Louis Public Schools. He is a graduate of the former East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School. He is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Charlston, IL. In June 1972, he married Marcia L. Burns. He holds the Bachelor of Science in Education and the Master of Divinity Degree. He formerly taught in the East St. Louis School District 189. When he realized the calling of God on his life, he resigned his job to further his training in ministry. He graduated Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, MO. He pastored Mt. Nebo M.B. Church in Madison, IL for 13 years. In May of 1986, he was called to pastor his home church, Southern Mission. Since that time, he has led the church in instituting and reinstituting various ministries for Christian and church growth.
Pastor Jerome Jackson is the Past Moderator of New Salem District Association, former 2nd. Vice President of Baptist General State Convention of Illinois, and currently a member of the East St. Louis Financial Advisory Authority.
Pastor Jackson is one of the most respected pastor's in the East St. Louis area. He works with churches in the community-often serving as a teacher. He is a student of the scriptures. He is a gifted church administrator, preacher, and teacher.
We are proud to have Rev. Jerome Jackson, I, Sr., as our pastor. He has and is leading us to new heights. He and his wife are the proud parents of four children, sons: Larry E. (Ninette) Hopkins, Jerome, Jr., and daughters: Jeneen C., Jeromene C., II and one granddaughter Monica G. Hopkins.
