What is the task of the Church? What is the Church called to do? It can be so easy to get caught up into various activities/ministries and lose our focus on what the mission of the Church is. To be sure, ministries are important. However, we must never lose sight of the most important thing. The commission of our Lord to His Church was/is to make disciples. Ministries are important in and to the life of the Church as they augment and facilitate the Church's work toward accomplishing its mission.
At Southern Mission, we strive to be mission-oriented and not ministry-oriented. Our ministries are important. Our ministries are helpful. However, the mission which Jesus put before us takes precedence. We are not perfect, but we do love Jesus and we are striving to give Him all the glory as we become more and more the people that God is calling us to be.
The Church is God's Agency in the world designed to bring people into closer relationship with Him and with one another. It teaches us to know God, to know ourselves and to know one another.
Our goal at Southern Mission Church is to empower people to be comfortable, yet, reverent of God. Our fivefold purpose is worship, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism and ministry/service. As pastor, my role is to equip the saints for the effective working of the ministry. We strive to be a "Seeker Driven" church constantly searching for those who do not have a relationship with Jesus as Lord and helping them to develop that relationship once it has been established.
Everyone is WELCOME here. We do not attempt to judge anyone based upon who you are, where you've been, or what you've done. We have a "come as you are" attitude at Southern Mission. We do not have a defined dress code. If you live in our community, or close to our community, then stop by and worship with us. If you are passing through our community, stop by and worship with us. You are more than welcome.
