The Lady Colonels were physically upset by their loss to a Salem team made up of freshmen by a score of 47-46. Hopefully, they learned that even turnovers to a younger squad can lead to a defeat. Salesse Stoval led the Colonels with another double-double scoring 17 points and snatching 11 rebounds. Brandi Smith added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. Sidra Johnson had 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, an assist and a block. TiAsia McGeorge had 5 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and a rebound. Tashiana Pack chipped in 3 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Jamela Wilson added a bucket to complete Fleming's scoring. Brittni Taylor and Aureon Bannister had 2 and 1 rebounds and steals respectively. The good news is that the inside scoring improved dramatically. The bad news is that the outside scoring didn't. Fleming will need both to win.

I'm not quite sure what happened to make the Lady Colonels say "ENOUGH," but whatever it was , it was right on time. After 4 straight losses, Fleming faced George Washington, the team picked (by apparently, everyone who keeps up with girls basketball in this area) to win the district and possibly the state championship. However, for whatever reason, the Colonels seemed to relish the challenge as they beat GW 60-54 to put themselves in position for a 1st place tie. Senior guard Brandi Smith and sophomore center Salesse Stoval led the team with 14 points each. Smith also had 10 rebounds (for a double-double,) 3 steals, 2 assists and a block. Stoval added 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a block as well as boxing a few GW players out to the next county. Sophomore guard Tashianna Pack had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Junior forward Sidra Johnson added 7 points, an assist and a rather "nasty" block to go with the 8 rebounds she snatched. Senior forward Brittni Taylor had 6 points, 4 rebounds, one block, assist and steal, and 7 good defensive plays. Junior forward Jamela Wilson used her PT to get 4 points and 3 rebounds. Sophomore guard TiAsia McGeorge had 2 points, 2 rebounds, a steal and dished off 5 assists. Freshman forward Aureon Bannister chipped in another 2 points, 2 rebounds and a steal.

The Lady Colonels served notice that they were NOT to be over-looked as they beat Franklin County 72-67 and kicked the door down for a tie for first place in the district. Tashianna Pack led the Colonels with 17 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Brandi Smith added 16 points, 2 assists, a rebound, a block and a steal. Salesse Stoval powered in 12 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and added 2 steals, an assist and a block to boot. TiAsia McGeorge reminded all that she could dish off 4 assists and still score 12 points. Sidra Johnson showed that she wasn't there for decoration as she snatched 10 rebounds, scored 8 points, had 8 defensive stops, 3 blocks, 2 assists and a steal. Brittni Taylor came off the bench in time to add 5 points, 2 steals, a block and an assist. Aureon Bannister chipped in 2 points, 3 rebounds and a steal. Jamela Wilson didn't score a point but she came off the porch to run with the big dogs and grabbed 5 rebounds, stole 2 passes and had 4 defensive stops.

The Lady Colonels survived the long ride and the flu bug and managed to squeeze a 52-45 victory out of Halifax Co. Brittni Taylor came off the bench to lead Fleming with 13 points, 2 steals, 2 assists and a rebound. Tashiana Pack added another 12 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. TiAsia McGeorge had 8 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Sidra Johnson also had 8 points, plus, 7 blocks, 6 steals and 6 rebounds. Brandi Smith chipped in 6 free-throws, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal. Salesse Stoval scored 4 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, stole 3 passes and got an assist. Jamela Wilson had 2 rebounds and a steal to contribute to the team's win.
