Fleming's Lady Colonels avenged last week's loss to Pulaski County with a 79-60 victory. Three of the Colonels scored in double digits and all players scored. Freshman guard Tashiana Pack had 16 points, 3 assists, a rebound, a steal and 13 good defensive plays. Sophomore forward Sidra Johnson had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 blocks, a steal and 11 good defensive plays. Junior Brandi Smith had 13 points, 7 rebounds, a block, a steal, an assist and 15 good defensive plays. Freshman guard Tiasia McGeorge had 7 points, 6 assists, a rebound, a steal and 6 good defensive plays. Junior Mercedez Ward added another 7 points, 2 steals, a rebound, a block and 7 good defensive plays. Senior captain Sade Robinson scored 6 points with 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 good defensive plays. Junior forward Brittni Taylor chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, an assist and 11 good defensive plays. Sophomore forward Myeisha Little had 4 points, a rebound and caused Pulaski County to turn the ball over twice. Senior captain Chenique Bonds also contributed 4 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and 8 good defensive plays before fouling out in the 4th quarter. Senior guard LaCara Smith made the most of her playing time by scoring 2 points to go with her 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 defensive stops. Junior Moneka Reeves only scored a free throw, but hustled up 6 good defensive plays in doing so.
With no more games on the schedule for 2006, the Lady Colonels will go into the New Year with a 6-2 record. Not bad for a team picked to finish in last place!

If high school basketball games only lasted one quarter, Fleming could have finished the game with a respectable loss to the defending private school champs by a score of 15-11. Unfortunately, there were 3 more quarters to be played, and Holy Cross realized that the Lady Colonels had come to play so they obliged and beat Fleming 69-39. The Lady Colonel offense was again led by Tiasia McGeorge and Tashiana Pack who had 10 points each. Myeisha Little added 6 points. Sidra Johnson had 4 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks. Brittni Taylor had 3 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Sade Robinson and LaCara Smith each chipped in 2 points. Chenique Bonds had a free throw, 4 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Salesse Stoval had a free throw, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals in her debut. Moneka Reeves and Brandi Smith got in early foul trouble and spent most of the game as cheerleaders, but played good defense while they were in the game.

The best way I can summarize this game is to say that the Lady Colonel offense was as cold as an old maid's bed on a winter's night in Alaska. The Lady Colonels continued their losing streak with a 49-43 loss to cross town rivals Patrick Henry. Fleming let a first quarter 13 point lead slip away with unforced turnovers, poor shot selection and defensive miscues. Tashiana Pack led the offense with 17 points. Brandi Smith had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and a block. TiAsia McGeorge had 5 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal. Brittni Taylor chipped in 3 points and 2 rebounds. Sidra Johnson had 10 rebounds, 2 points, 2 steals and a block. Before fouling out the game, Chenique Bonds had a free throw, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, an assist and 11 good defensive plays. Salesse Stoval had 2 rebounds, a steal, a block and a free throw to complete the Colonels' scoring.
