Sky Road near Clifden    Thursday,  4/22/04
Beach at end of Sky Road
The town of Clifden located at the junction of N59 and R341 is in Western Connemara. The drive along Sky Road west of the town has great views of Ardbear Bay, stone walled  pastures and beaches. We drove along here in late afternoon after visiting the town of Roundstone where we climbed Mt Errisbeg.
left - Beach off Sky Road. We walked along it looking for shells. There was no sand and no shells, only large, surf smoothed beach stones.

The ever present pastures are in the background. We saw livestock all over the West of Ireland grazing on what will probably be prime waterfront real estate in future years.
Sheep pastures seen along Sky Road near town of Clifden. These photos were taken a few minutes and short distance apart; note the change in color tone and atmosphere. This was a constant on our travels through Ireland.
