These three Coast Guard invaders were members of
the crew of a Coast Guard-manned LCI (L) which was heavily
shelled by Nazi 88's and then gutted by fire on the Normandy
beachhead during the European invasion. They are (left to right):
Coast Guardsmen J. W. Spring, motor machinist's mate third
class, of 2324 Loving Street, Forth Worth; Charles R. Higgins,
Pottsboro, and Bobby Gene Smith, 700 Austin, Wichita Falls.
