* Austin Alumni Association announces new "Spirit of LBJ Award"
Recognizing the value of involvement in the LBJ School and the impact those highly involved while students have on all alumni and the Austin Alumni in general, an award has been established to recognize a student(s) who goes above and beyond.  Details are still being ironed out, but the Austin Alumni Association envisions awarding the "Spirit of LBJ Award" during Orientation to a returning student who has exceeded expectations in terms of involvement in extracurricular activities, academic assistance, and relationship building.  for more information, watch here or e-mail [email protected].

* Spring Policy Colloquium a HUGE success.
Professor Sherri Greenburg lead the way for a panel of Former Lt. Gov Bill Ratcliff, Paul Burka (Texas Monthly, and Ross Ramsey (Texas Weekly) to add their thoughts to the happenings and mysteries of the recently closed 80th Texas Legislative Session.  A crowd approaching 75 proved the the legislative session was quite interesting, the panel offered great insight, and the Austin Alumni Assocition once again held a successful and timely policy colloquium.

* Austin Alumni Associaion Annual Meeting held on May 8th
The Board of the Austin Alumni Association held its Annual Meeting on May 8th at Z'Tejas as per its by-laws.  The event was led by TJ Costello '03 and Brian Kelsey '04 President and Vice-President of the Association.  Dean Steinberg attended as a member (faculty) of the Association and gave an update on his strategic plan.  The Association is in good shape organizationally and financially but still needs alumni involvement

* Barbara Jordan Forum a Success!
The Austin Alumni Association co-sponsored a break-out session on "Civil Liberties" and the Board was represented at the opening night reception.  The Forum was a complete success with great speakers and organization.  Kudo's to Alumni-in-Waiting Andrea and Angie, the Co-chairs of the event.

* Austin Alumni Association Annual Campaign a Complete Success.

* Board to Form 3 New Sub-committees
The Board of the Austin Alumni Association voted to form three new sub-committees (Communications, Career Services, and Policy Colloquium) responsible for specific Association needs.  "These committees are a necessary development directly associated with the rapid growth and respect the Association has encountered over the last few years." says Association president TJ Costello '03.  e-mail [email protected]

* Austin Alumni and LBJ Library
FUTURE FORUM Team Up
The boards of the Austin Alumni Association and the LBJ Library FUTURE FORUM have agreed to a mutual support arrangement. The Austin Alumni board encourages all LBJ grads to join the FUTURE FORUM

* Austin Alumni Association now a Member of the
TexasExes Networks.
Looking to offer even better service for the LBJ School Austin Alumni Community, the Austin Alumni Association has teamed up with the TexasExes Networks.  This cooperative arrangement offers the Association better logistical services, use of TexasExes facilities, as well as stronger ties with the entire UT community.  

* LBJ Beats the BUSH School!!!!!!
For only the second time in the seven year history of the big grudge softball game, the LBJ School students beat the Bush School 9 - 6.  It was a beautiful day and an awesome game.  All alumni should be really proud of this group and know that the "Armadillo" is back in the Dean's Office where it belongs.  CONGRATS!
