The Austin Chapter of the LBJ Alumni Association is beginning its second annual fund-raising drive this month. We hope you will take this opportunity to assist the association in continuing to support the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the central Texas public policy community.
All proceeds from the drive directly benefit the alumni of the LBJ School by allowing the association to continue to provide public policy forums, opportunities for alumni interaction with students, and monthly networking opportunities. During 2006, the Association supported and managed more than a dozen programs and events, including: spring and fall policy colloquia; monthly networking nights; and joint activities with the Barbara Jordan Forum, the Future Forum, the Center for Health and Social Policy, and the current student body.
The Austin chapter�s open and inclusive membership requires that we raise operating funds through donations instead of annual membership fees. We are confident in the alignment of this decision with the spirit and philosophy of the school and its founder, even more so after the success of last year�s drive. In 2006, alumni generously donated enough money that we were able to increase the program offerings available from the association. Your support is needed to continue this tradition of alumni participation and outreach, as we seek to make 2007 a year of continued growth and expansion.
If you share in our desire to support and promote the LBJ School in its mission to prepare generations of public servants for civic duty, please take a moment to mail a donation, in the form of a check made out to the LBJ Austin Alumni Association, to the address listed above. Alumni officers will also be available to collect donations at any alumni event this spring. With your help and contributions we will be able to continue to offer policy programming for the LBJ community through the 2007-2008 school year. As an added bonus, due to our new non-profit status, your contributions are tax-deductible.
The support you provide through a financial contribution, or attendance at alumni events, is a direct reflection of your ongoing commitment to preserve and enhance our community and the spirit of public service we all revere.
