While going through my stack of “things to do”  I stumbled across newspaper pages three through eight.  I know not from which newspaper these pages came, nor the issue date, but did think it was something worth publishing. Starts on page three and I have no way of knowing the number of the last page.

Bertha Konechne ( Mrs. Ernest Raish) deceased.

 

Elsie Konechne (Mrs. Albert Geppert) Elise and her husband are retired and reside on their farm across from the Kimball school. Their one son, D'Wayne is deceased. They have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Elsie is active in community and church work and enjoys tending a large garden in the summer. Elsie and Albert celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August.

Bertrand Martin, widower. has one son, George, and grandson Hayes. He handles Texaco bulk oil delivery.

 

Viola Miller (Mrs. Ernest Oakleaf) Hartford, S. Dak. Viola and Ernest had one son Dale, who is deceased. They live on a farm and are retired, They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, June 3.

 

Oliver Olson, married to Minnie Cundari. They have two daughters, Gail and Jill, both married and have four grandchildren. Oliver is a livestock dealer and sells real estate.

May Richards Gallagher, Chamberlain. She has one daughter, Joan and three grandchildren. She had worked in several positions until her health failed. At present she is making her home at the Sunset Valley Home in Chamberlain.

Lillian Smith (Mrs. Lloyd Craven) 296 Hope Ave., Space 31, Santa Barbara, Calif. They are enjoying

their retirement.

 

Mabel Savage (Mrs. E. R. Painter) 69530 Dillon Rd., No. 23A, Desert Hot Springs, Calif. 92240. Mabel and her husband are living in Hot Springs where mineral pools are the greatest. Their  three  daughters and six grandchildren all live in southern California. She is in good health and stays active.

She and her husband both enjoy traveling. They visited Hawaii last winter and this year will go to Cape Cod.

 

Merle Spielman (Mrs. Ed Herbst) 923 E. Ireland St., Seguin, Tex. 78155. Merle and her husband have been married 53 years. They have five daughters, two are living in S. Dak. They have done quite a bit of traveling.

 

Oliver Wolbert, 20101 NE )32nd Ave., Battle Ground, Wash. 98604. Oliver is married to Verla Gould and their daughter is Lynette. He retired in 1972 as custodian for 15 years with the Battle Ground school district. They are enjoying retirement.

 

Albert Yarosh, 530 Green St., Santa Rosa, Calif. 95404. Al is retired. He was auditor for Diamond Match Co. for eight years, then promoted to district credit loan officer. Al and Betty send best wishes  and regards to all.

Bernice Boyd (Mrs. O. C. Smith) 1201/Z N. Main, Chamberlain, S. Dak. 57325. After graduation she married Guy Rockafellow and had one daughter. Worked for Federal and County Gov't. In 1952 she married L. P. Christensen. In 1969 she married O. C. Smith who died in 1970. Retired and working with Senior Citizens. She has one grandson and two great-grandsons.

 

Catharine Bradshaw (Mrs. Boyd, Kimball, S. Dak. Received B. A. from St. Theresa's and M. A. from U. of MD. Also studied at U. Rome, Italy. Taught many years in the Kimball school system. Has written and had published many articles, poems and books. She has contributed much to the literary world.

 

Russel Henning (deceased)

 

Thyra Johnson (Mrs. Edw. Dorwart) Kimball, S. Dak. 57355. Taught school for several years. They reside northeast of Kimball on a farm. They have two sons and a daughter and seven grandchildren. Thyra is active in all community affairs. She enjoys church work, her clubs, reading, crocheting and knitting.

Isabel Kratochwill (Mrs. John Leiferman) Pukwana, S. Dak. 57370. Attended Springfield and taught 13 years. She has five children: Robert, Wanda, William, Donna and Bernard, and several grand-children. Husband deceased. At present she live on a farm and is running a cafe in Pukwana.

Clara Maresh (Mrs. Herman La Prath) 310 Hi 14 W., Spearfish, S. Dak. 57783. She lives on an acreage. Husband deceased. They had no children. Hobbies are gardening, yard and crocheting. She would appreciate hearing from her classmates and

friends.

 

Florence Neelen (Harmison) 4316 Park Ave. Fair Oaks, Ca. 95628. Widow since 1970. She has one

daughter. She is still employed as a buyer for "Ladies Ready to Wear" in Sacramento. Hobbies are read-ing, fishing, boating and swimming. She loves animals which consist of two appaloosa horses, two cats and a collie.

 

Harry Plut, MD. 1054 Quincy, Port Townsend, Wa. 98368. Attended Creighton U. in Omaha, Nebr. Served internship in Seattle. Married to Dorothy Wilkes. Now retired. They have five children and eight grandchildren. Spends time fishing for salmon, gardening, boating and generally enjoying life. Harry and Dorothy were selected as Jefferson County's First Citizens for 1978.

 

Johanna Powers (Mrs. Walter Woodcock) 9033 17th Ave. S.W., Seattle, Wa. 98106. Taught 12 years in rural S. Dak. before going to Washington. They have two children; a boy and a girl. When husband retired they moved to the Tri Cities of eastern Washington.

 

Agnes Roberts (Mrs. Rex Folan) Kimball, S. Dak. 57355. Agnes worked for 12 years in the grocery store and at present is employed at Ray's Cafe. She has three children; Robert, Arlene and Neal. She has five grandchildren. Husband passed away in 1959

 

Helen Sailer (Mrs. Frank Liska) 6 N .310 Riverside Dr., St. Charles, Ill. 60174. Retired. They have a son and a daughter. They report (1979) that snow in their area had caused a major problem. Helen loves to keep in touch with Kimball folks.

 

Theophil A. Sebesta, 501 Southgate Ave., Daly City, Ca. 94015. Married and has three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He worked for 30 years as a maintenance engineer in the

dairy industry. Now retired and he and his wife celebrated their 50th anniversary last year.

 

Emily Schmalz (Mrs. Edw. Friel) Route 1 Box 143AA,  Aurora. Ore. 97002. They are retired. Both are interested in antiques so spend much time buying and restoring articles to sell They have no children.

 

Edna Thomas (Mrs. Earl Schmalz) Box 299. Kimball. S. Dak. 57355. Attended college. They lived on a farm N.E. of Kimball. They have one daughter and 3 grandchildren. She taught for 35 years. Since retiring to Kimball she keeps busy with housekeeping and gardening. She loves to read, visit friends. attends church and club activities.

 

Albert Wilcox. 609 S. 2nd Ave.. Greybull. Wyo. 82426. Worked for 30 years as buyer for the refineries of oil companies. Retired. They have three sons: Oren, Robert and Michael and 8 grandchildren.

Esther Craft (Miller) 200 East 15th Apt. 209, Mitchell, S. Dak. She is an "All Volunteer person". Helps in first grade-, is a Pink Lady at St. Joes and crochets bibs and monkeys for the hospital and is a real asset.

 

Robert Dorwart, Rosseau, Mn. Robert is in the Dodge Plymouth Agency. They have 2 sons and 6 grandchildren. Bob is recuperating from recent by-pass surgery. Doing very well, thanks to the good care he gets from Nurse Helen.

 

Grace Foltz (Mrs. George Messer) Kimball, S. Dak. Husband is retired. We have two children. Rose Marie and Don. One granddaughter and five grandsons. Stay busy keeping house, knitting, church work, coffee breaks and. bridge.

I have not made my fortune yet and am not really enjoying many of the good things of life, but, if and when I do make it, I hope 'to enjoy some of those things in the next life. Sorry I have not made some deeper footprints on the sands of time as a legacy to my Alma Mater.

Floyd Sobek, 201 SW 3rd St. Stewartville, Mn. Floyd has had a busy and colorful life, doing police work. The Sobeks have four children,fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren to enjoy during their retirement years.

 

Mayme Soulek (Mrs. Ed. Geppert), Manor 1, Alexandria, S. Dak. She has 6 children. Writing letters, belonging to two card clubs, two church societies and Senior Citizens keep herpretty busy. Stop and visit  me in Alexandria.

 

Josephine Stewart (Mrs.Avery Long), 517 East 6th Ave., Mitchell, S. Dak. Music takes much of her time. fm taking Pipe Organ lessons, play the organ at the chapel at St. Joe's church, at Holy family and occasion ally at Holy Spirit. Has 1 son and 1 daughter. We formerly lived in Chicago, but I can't think of a better place to live than S. Dak.

Florence Yarosh, Kimball S. Dak. Our Class motto was "Not the End but on the Way" which reminds

me--I wonder just how many of our classmates who for some reason or another did not respond to messages we sent them. After teaching and working in various places I came back here in 1957 to teach. Now retired. How I ever had time to work, etc all these years, I'll never know.

Leonard Cahill, Kimball, S. Dak. He is the Star Route mail carrier to Gann Valley and vicinity. He has a son David and a daughter, Nancy Koranda and one granddaughter. One "High Light" in his life was being inducted into the S. Dak. Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978.

Florence Sobek Farnsworth, Pukwana, S. Dak. She has been employed at ! Brule County Courthouse for 12 years and is presently a  state employee. She has one daughter, Cynthia Lantz; two sons, Norman and Monte. She has 6 grandchildren.

Hazel Treumer (Mrs. Otto Peterson), Hillsboro, Oregon. She has a son Robert, a daughter Diane and 3 grandchildren. She retired from Electonics Inc. 3 years ago.

Myrtle Wolbert (Mrs Walter Williamson), 4911 N.E. 44tn Ave., Vancouver, Wash. She is a retired teacher. Has three daughters Deanna, Sandra, Jean and a son, Robert. She has eleven  grandchildren. Walter is a retired painter.

 

Gladys Yeager Dey Smith, Winthrop Iowa. She has 3 children, Kay Blumenshine, Diane Middleton; and Clark, all in the field of Education.  She has 3 grandsons and 3 is granddaughters. Active in 'y Women's Club, Cancer Society, hospital auxiliary and church work.

Velma Bely (Mrs. Ben Nepodal). Velma taught for 20 years receiving her certificate from BHTC. They

have 2 daughters Myra and Mayta. Also 3 grandsons.

 

Dorothy Boyd (Mrs. Carl O. Tollefson) 1202 Adams Ave., Tappenish, Wash. Graduate of Huron college. Taught school. She has four sons:Graham, Gene, Gerald and Gary.

 

Alma Brady (Mrs. LeRoy Northrup) 206 W 15th Ave. Apt 18, Mitchell, S. Dak. Alma taught school and is the mother of 5 children, Harry, Delbert, Kay, Lois and Mary Lou. She has eighteen grandsons. They are retired.

 

Charlotte Bradshaw, Kimball, S. Dak. Attended St. Catherines, St. Theresa's and U of Mn., Dakota Wesleyan, Augustana, U of Wisc, and U of Chicago. Is teaching in Kimball High School.

 

Asenith Calvin (Mrs. Asenith Vosberg) 600 E. Haven, Mitchell, S. Dak. She has one son and three grandchildren. She is still keeping books for M. C. Oil Co.

 

Margaret Calvin, Rapid City, S. Dak. She worked as a a cashier at Alex Johnson Hotel and at the Hallmark Store. Is now retired. Her address is 5071/2 6th St.

 

Dorothy Conley (Mrs. Elmer Zingler) Kimball, S. Dak. They are retired farmers. She taught school for many years. They have two children De Ann and Bob. Dorothy loves to sew and  knit.

 

Mae Deal (Mrs. Harold Hicks) 3741 Canyon Lake; Dr. Apt. 110. She has nine children including two sets of twins. Husband died several years ago. She is retired and enjoys crafts, reading and going to the Civic Center.

Paul Lenz, Kimball, S. Dak. Graduate of Creighton U. Law School, Omaha, Neb. He is in Insurance and real estate business. Has four children; Philip, John Paul, Joseph and Mary Paulette.

 

Howard "Billy" McClenahan, Nishey Lake Trail S. W. Atlanta, Ga. Graduate 'of U of S. Dak. Law School and is now a retired civilian employee of the Army.

 

Elizabeth Novak (Mrs. Lawrence Schoeber) Rush City, Mn. She has seven children. .

Vivian Olson (Mrs. Harold Sanders) Kimball, S. Dak., a housewife with one daughter. Husband is a mail carrier. She enjoys gardening and playing cards.

 

Mary Plut (Mrs. Harry Labidee) Chamberlain, S. Dak. She has three children; Joyce, Susan and Douglas and three grandchildren. Husband is -semi-retired. She enjoys playing cards, golf and sewing.
