DOG ZONE PILOT PROGRAM

Here are the rules for the Dog Zone, which are posted on the main sign at the Ocean Boulevard parking lot. These proposed rules were cobbled together by the Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine and the City Attorney's Office after two public forums. See a bird's-eye view of the proposed area.

Dogs are permitted to be on the beach, and off-leash, in the designated area at the following times:
The zone is currently in effect from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The Dog Zone is located between the boundary markers (east to west), and between the boundary markers and the ocean.
WARNING: Dog owners are entirely responsible for their dog's actions, and accept the risk of allowing their dog to interact with people, other dogs, existing beach conditions, and City vehicles. The City accepts no responsibility for the behavior of dogs, or dog owners, inside or outside of the Dog Zone. Dog owners failing to comply with the Rules & Regulations as set forth ... may be cited.

EMERGENCY & INCIDENT REPORTING PROCEDURES
To call for emergency services, please use the yellow call box located at the entrance to the Granada Avenue Launch Ramp, or dial (562) 435-6711 on your own phone. The phone number for Animal Control is (562) 570-7387.
If a dog injures an individual, make two reports -- one with the Police, one with Animal Control.
If an individual attacks a dog, make two reports -- one with the Police, one with Animal Control.
If a dog injures another dog, make a report with Animal Control.
All other incidents should be reported by completing an Incident Report Form. These forms are located in the box below, and are also available from Beach Maintenance staff, Lifeguards, and Marine Patrol Officers. Completed forms may be mailed in, or returned in-person to Beach Maintenance staff or Lifeguards.
