PET PROMENADE

We've begun a drive for a third pour of the Pet Promenade, the memorial walkway to our pets along the south fence.

Squares are available at $35 each, the proceeds of which will go to the general fund to help improve and maintain the Dog Park.

The Maintenance and Planning Committee hopes to have enough subscriptions for squares so that a pour can be done yet this year. The plan is to extend the walkway to the west, where it will lead to a new exit gate that will be installed with this summer's fence replacement project. The new fence layout will also permit us to get the trashcans off the walkway.

Those who purchase squares will be notified of the date of the event in advance so that they may do their own inscriptions. In the past, people have even used cookie-cutters and beads to decorate their squares.

Our last pour, of about 30 squares, was done in late 2000. The first portion of the walkway, at the east end, was poured in 1998.

If you're interested in paying tribute to your best friend with a square, please send a check for $35 made out to: Recreation Dog Park Assn., P.O. Box 8337, Long Beach CA 90808 with "Pet Promenade" on the memo line. Checks made out to the association are tax-deductible.
