Eye of the Beholder

Look into my eyes
And tell me what you see.
I am not beautiful,
But it's always been said that
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
When you look at me,
Do you see beauty?
I am not smart,
But should intelligence matter
When it concerns the heart?
I am what I am
And will always be.

When I look at you,
I see beauty.
Not because your skin is like silk
Or because your eyes shimmer like diamonds.
It is because your heart
Is made of solid gold
And not one shred of ice.
You are beautiful because
You hold a piece of the sun
Forever in your heart,
Shining bright like a star
When life is so dark.
That is why you are beautiful.

When you look at me,
Do you see beauty?
