Drowning

You fall into that ocean called love
When the cliff crumbles beneath you,
And feel yourself begin to drown.
The water is so cold you cannot breathe
As the current pulls you down.

You reach for the surface
And the melting warmth of the sun,
A fear like no other choking your heart,
Squeezing till you are numb.

You're drowning in him.
You said you'd die to be his.
He's making it too easy.
You never bargained for this.

The water is dark and frozen
Where the sunlight fails to shine.
You've lost all faith in surfacing,
You've lost all track of time.
Love's ocean is indifferent
To even the soundest of mind.
