Pedra
Azul: We drove up into the mountains one day to visit this mountain.
It was of course pouring rain but we soldiered on. There is lichen on this
rock that reflects the sky and makes it appear very blue. The day we were
there it was kind of gray, well because it was a tad cloudy! But I have
been assured the mountina is blue.
Of course eating was a major part of this
holiday. On the last day just before we boarded the plane we went to a
churrascaria, which is in my words, a big meat palace.
They cook all this meat on grills and are continually coming around to
the tables with hot, fresh grilled food to fill your plate up. Of course,
Jaime wouldn't even let them think of trying to serve me pork. The federales
took such good care of us!
Move over Judge Judy. It's Judge Gail. We
went on a tour of the local courthouse in Vila Velha. Learnt all kinds
of things. Since I'm never going to be a judge in Canada. . . I sat up
in the judge's chair in the main criminal court. I'm holding the penal
code and Jesus is there, like he is everywhere in Brazil, making
sure everything is under control.
Of course when we left the airport we didn't
have to go through security, we were already checked in when we got there.
It was straight into the VIP lounge, escorted by more federale friends.
Izaque, Cleide and Jaime were the three federal police agents who "looked
after" Debbie and me during the week. They were just the best!
L to R: Two federal police from the airport,
Izaque, Cleide, Debbie, Jaime.
Every morning I took a long walk along the
boardwalk. If I lived in this place I'd be totally fit because walking
would be such a thrill. And instead of drinking water or Gatorade after
my vigorous outing, I'd buy a fresh coconut and drink the water out of
it. Bliss!
