10 things legitimate people don't bother to tell you...

ONE If you do not know by now, it really doesn't pay to memorize your textbook cover-to-cover for any exams. Some seniors swear by Mugger Notes compiled and consolidated by past seniors (many of them ex-Dean's listers). The Mugger Notes are bound and often photocopied (which accounts for poor font resolutions in certain sections) A4-sized books. They can be purchased from seniors who have managed to get their hands on a copy.

TWO It pays well to be nice to the lady at the Student Distribution Counter. We hand up assignments and get our grades from the Counter so it is best to be nice. She might lend you scissors, glue and scotch-tape when you need it the most.

THREE Sometimes you might be told to hand up your assignments at the tutor's mailboxes. These mailboxes are located on the 3rd level. You should proceed by the flight of stairs located next to the lift. You'll find the mailboxes at the end of the corridor flanked by tutor's offices. There is an index on the side indicating which mailbox belongs to which tutor.

FOUR Some tutors take late assignments very seriously and will penalize you heavily. It is really best to just hand up everything on time. The lady at the Student Distribution Counter will register the exact time you hand in your assignments so there is no way you can cheat.

FIVE If you are unable to hand up your assignments on time and need an extension or if you hand in your assignment late and want to explain yourself, you need to get a form from the Dean's office, fill it up and hand it in. However, your request will usually be rejected.

SIX To book classrooms or the Moot Court or any sound systems for any activity, go to the Dean's office which is located on the 3rd floor, and fill up the application forms from the tray at the counter and place them in the tray that is for completed forms. 2 forms are to be filled for the same booking. For classrooms and the Moot Court, you'll get a copy back. For the sound system, you get both back but you have to give a copy to Selamat (the technician).

SEVEN Some people don't do their tutorials and simply borrow from another TG who had the tutorial before them. We are dead against this so please refrain from doing so. Moreover, plagarism is heavily punished and you might even be expelled!

EIGHT Food is CHEAP in NUS. At the Arts Canteen, there's good Western & Japanese cuisine, and there's home-brewed ice lemon tea at the drink stall for $0.50 a cup. At the Biz Ad canteen, the food is quite edible and there is even Dumpling Day at the Beijing Feng Wei stall on Thursdays.

NINE Toilets! The nearest one to LT15 is located at the flight of steps near the wheelchair ramp. The ones near the Law Library on the 1st and 2nd floor are usually very well maintained. There are 2 separate locations for toilets at the Biz Ad canteen - one's at the bottom level near the Beijing Feng Wei stall, and the other is near LT19. You walk through the canteen in the direction of Hon Sui Sen Library, go down one flight of steps and you will see it hidden in this little nook slightly on the right.

TEN Enjoy life in Law School!
