Another long day on the road.everyones butts are holding up well, probably due to the smooth highway riding. Andi is happy Gail fixed her CD player.
We traveled through Pennsylvaniaa lot of towns ending in ville and burg.miles of corn fields, farms with the pungent smell of silage, cows , and some unidentifiable stench ..maybe pig manure ,spread as fertilizerwho knows.
We crossed the Potomac River.not as impressive as the Hudson. All these rivers brought back memories of American History class and the Revolutionscary, I actually remember that stuff!
At about 11:15 we crossed briefly into Maryland and crossed the Mason-Dixon Line, another history memory. By 11:30 we were in West Virginia, and by 12:20 we made it to Virginia.  We raised our fists in victory as we crossed each state line.
Rt. 81 was a fast, busy highway, controlled by the endless line of tractor-trailers that whizzed by us. The breakdown lanes were strewn with remnants of shredded tires. I prayed our motorcycle tires did not meet a similar fate on this trip!
It was somewhere traveling through the Shenandoah Valley that Robin started shaking her left arm violently, pulled over into the breakdown lane, jumped off her bike and whipped off her jacket. A bee had gone up her jacket sleeve and stung her twice. We took the very next exit and stopped at a Burger King where Robin ordered up a BK Icepack to try and stop the swelling on her arm. Those southern bees pack a punch!!

We got off the highway and rode about 100 miles of Skyline Drive. Beautiful views of lush, green forestsa winding road lined with stonewalls.
We came across a lovely deer grazing by the road that did not even flinch when we drove by. The deer must be used to the tourists.
We got a GREAT motel room in Waynesboro VA..  First we went to a nice restaurant for dinner and drinks. They did not know how to make some of the drinks we ordered. Andi made up an original drink she said was called a blandi (thats short for a blue Andi), which they mixed for Robin and charged $13.00!!   Virginia now has a new drink thanks to Andi! Next time we are in Waynesboro we will order one and see if its fame has spread. Though, at 13 dollars a drink, it could get pretty expensive.
After dinner, we went to enjoy the whirlpool and pool..very relaxing after a long day on the bikes.
