Syd has just called her mom for another trip into VR, and
puts down the phone . . . Mom: You're back. Syd: I didn't think we should go to the house again. Mom: Oh, I didn't mean to upset you. Syd: I know. (pause) I need your advice. Mom: Of course. Syd: I saw something in VR, and I'm not sure whether or not to believe it. Mom: You can touch people's souls in here, can't you? Syd: I think so. Mom: And sometimes people aren't what they seem. Like Cooper. Syd: Dr. Morgan told me not to use it, but I feel responsible some how. As if I'm the only one who can prevent something bad from happening. Mom: Maybe this is your second chance. Syd: For what? Mom: You couldn't save Daddy and Samantha from drowning, but maybe with this, you can save other people. Syd: You think I should keep going? Mom: You can't give up now. There are too many of us who need you, Sydney. (pause) Please, be careful. Syd: But it's not real. Mom: We both know better than that. (holds out locket from around her neck. Syd takes it . . .) VR ends. |
