What is there to say on an occasion as auspicious as this one? We've managed to keep him alive for a full year.
As you can see, he's gone through a lot of changes over the last twelve months. I feel safe saying that all three of us have, for the most part, had a blast experiencing those changes first hand.
Last night we were at the mall buying a birthday present or two, and we saw a couple of teeny tiny babies. I looked at them, and thought, "How funny. People kept on having babies after Joshua was born."
In the car, Jim reminded me of our trip home from the hospital, which was very much the same way for me. Jim drove along, flabbergasted that the hospital staff just let us leave like that with a brand new person. I, however, was more surprised that there were cars on the road. Those people thought life was going on as normal.
Of course, Jim and I knew that the entire universe had changed course, and we've been trying to adjust to its crazy new physics ever since.
Joshua, of course, has no concept of what today is. He does, however have strong opinions about party hats: funny on other people but not for his head no matter what. It's a good thing the opening photo was his first exposure to them, or we'd never have gotten the shot.
Happy Josh's Birthday to you all. |
