    Urbanity
This photo is from my photographic essay with the theme of Urbanity with an emphasis of color utilized in the geographical setting. Urbanity is the quality or character of life within a city. I live in the city of Jacksonville, Florida, where there’s several areas undergoing development, merging different cultures and reviving historical areas of the city. Amongst the developments has been the rise of random art murals or pieces painted on abandoned buildings, offering character and uniqueness to the area while in the mist of desertion. The day I took the photos was gloomy and dreary, it even started a rain in certain locations. I had to adjust the exposure from 150 to 250, then 1250 when there wasn’t any sunlight shining through. I also used the white balance feature and set it to auto for the best effect. Majority of the time I applied different shutter speeds and aperture when I felt it was necessary to adjust. I used the outcome of the photos to make adjustments in Photoshop to enhance the actual colors in the artwork in contrast to the dark and cool surroundings. In Photoshop, I used the brightness and contrast filter, the Hue/Saturation filter whether I’m applying the increased color saturation, or yellow boost. My goal for using these tools were to really reveal the colors of the artwork in the random locations, and to highlight the different areas that are considered urban.

    Ansel Adams Inspo
The photographer who inspired my landscape photoshoot is Ansel Adams. His photograph titled, Mirror Lake, Yosemite National Park, California, 1935, was the inspiration behind my images of the landscape with the lake and trees. The way Adams was able to capture the reflection of the mountains and trees into the lake was a cool effect. I’ve been able to capture a mirror effect for my photoshoot and I’m pleased with the outcome. The mirror lake in Adams photo creates a pattern that can be visually amusing to the viewer’s eye.
