Draconus, Malleus Rising
Malleus Rising was born
to a miner's family. Raised on Grendel, Rising, like his father,
began working in the mineral mines at the age of seven (Terran
Standard Years).
As a teen, Rising was as
tough and rough as any human could be. Boozing, gambling and fighting
were his favorite pastimes.
After a serious mining
accident which claimed the lives of 83 miners, one of whom was
Rising's father, Rising was honored as a hero on Grendel for saving
the lives of many miners, and more importantly, saving tons of
valuable mining equipment. It was this event that caught the eyes
of the Arch Angel's Chaplains.
Rioting soon broke out
on Grendel, after reports that Imperial Commander Josef Bruges
had allowed unsafe working conditions to go uncorrected in order
to payoff gambling debts. Imperial forces led by Adeptus Arbites
and troops loyal to Bruges put upon the rioters and massacred
thousands of miners and their families.
Rising took action by gathering
a small band of rebels who, with much stealth and ammunition,
were able to storm the Imperial Palace and capture Josef Bruges.
Calling for support from the Red Razors Imperial Guard Regiment
stationed on Aquillon, Rising was able to find proof that Bruges
was corrupt and had the Adeptus Arbites on his payroll.
The Colonel of the Red
Razors offered Rising a post as a commissioned officer as reward
for fighting against Bruges treachery. Rising was about to accept
the offer when Chaplain Maleagant offered to accept Rising for
training as a Space Marine.
Rising accepted Maleagant's
offer though it meant that he'd be leaving his former life behind.
As an initiate, Rising
was proving to be natural leader and an able fighter. It was as
a scout Sergeant that Rising led his units most famous action
of scouting and mapping the interior to the Hive-Node vessel which
commanded the Hive Fleet
Behemoth; thus enabling the UltraMarines to destroy the Hive
Fleet.
As a Captain, Rising took
part in the Second War for Armageddon and again excelled
at his mission of capturing Ghazkull's second in command as well
as his dropship and warband.
Promoted to Captain of
Paramount Company for his many actions on Armageddon, Rising was
unanimously voted to become the Arch Angel's Chapter Commander
when Commander Strontius passed into the Emperor's Light.
Though Commander Strontius
led the Arch Angels for nearly 600 years, his grooming of Rising
has ensured that the Arch Angels Chapter will remain powerful
and ever-vigilant for signs of chaos.
Commander Rising recently
took to the field in the Third War for Armageddon and helped
to turn back the tide of the Orks assault upon the Hive-City Helsreach.
