Chainmaile, formally known as Maile, has long since been around even as before as the Roman Empire. It wasn't until the Medieval eras that it was highly used by armies around old Europe. Seeing as the Celts were highly crafty with knots, weaving and metal, it does not surprise many as to say that they were the first people to bring Maile into exsistance. From the Celts, the Germans learned how to do maile as well and modifyed it to even better standards for appeal and combat. Seeing how popular maile was many centuries ago, even in these modern days, you can see some chainmaile. In some movies, such as Lord of the Rings the Two Towers, is a good example just of that. Gladiator, Braveheart, and many more also carried chainmaile in their films. Thankfully chainmaile still carries on and has even started to grow more popular as it is presented more to modern society.
This is where, a newborn but vivacious chainmail company, Fallen Leaf comes into place. We work metal wire and ring (links) into patterns such as: 4-in-one, 6-in-one, Kings-mail (Full Persian 4-in-one), Queens-braid (Half Persian 3-in-one), Boxweave, Japanese 4-in-one, Simple European, Butterfly, Flower-chain, Circulet (A Fallen Leaf made pattern), Byzantine, and many more! Because we wish to bring and restore triditions of old, we create our maile the same way it has been created for thousands of years; we wind and cut our links by hand, weaving patterns one ring at a time. We hope that you find everything that is created just the way they would have back in the ancient times. Everything is done by hand and all prepared just as such. Working down and picking just the right kind of wire, guage, and the distinct standards for everything that we make. We hope you enjoy your stay as you journey through our site as we bring examples of different kinds of maile patterns and even some of our products, into perspective and to the eye where you are able to view.
